How is yachting similar to writing?
One question I am frequently asked as a writer is “you are an artist, you weave your words into worlds, how come you work in the yachting industry?”
Funny as it may sound, I get where it’s coming from.
In most people’s minds, yachting is connected to wealth, luxury, money and logistics, something very far from creative and human. They believe it is a commodity addressed only to a few chosen ones and that those working in the sector need to have a mathematical mind and a financial academic background.
I, on the other hand, believe that yachting and storytelling are a perfect match.
First of all, chartering a yacht is not only for the elite- far from it. Those who charter are not merely looking for luxury. That can be found in many wonderful super high-end hotels around the world. They are searching for authenticity. And they also have a story to tell.
For some of our guests, yachting gives them a freedom they do not enjoy in their everyday life. For others, it is a craving to connect with nature. Then, there are those who desire to deeply interact with their loved ones, as routine can make relationships challenging. And finally, others see it as a treat to themselves to feel pampered and disconnect from their stressful lives.
From their choice of yacht to their preference sheets and from the activities they participate in to any special request, we ,at Artemis Maritime, are there to carefully listen to their stories -not the ones stated with words, the inner ones hidden within details. More so, we are there to write one especially for them; one they will carry with them long after the charter has ended.
At the end of the day, what really counts is how we make our guests feel: cared for, listened to and true protagonists in their dream-holiday novel!
